Privacy Policy
Effective date: 17 October 2026
Sleight is a close-up magic app for iPhone and Apple Watch, made by Tony Al Akik ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with information on your devices.
Sleight does not collect any data. Nothing you or your audience do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
- No account, no sign-in.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
- Sleight makes no network requests of its own. It has no server.
- Camera, microphone, motion and heart-rate readings are used live, on the device, and never stored.
- Photos you take or choose for a trick, and your settings, stay on your iPhone.
What stays on your devices
Sleight keeps some information on your iPhone and Apple Watch so the tricks work the way you set them up:
- Settings for each trick, the disguise and the watch.
- Your handwriting, if you write the digits 0–9 in Doodle's handwriting studio, so predictions appear in your own hand.
- Photos for Out of the Screen: your coin, the face or back of your own playing card, objects you photograph (Sleight cuts each one out of its background on the iPhone itself), and a screenshot you choose to use as the table. They are kept in the app's own storage and are not added to your photo library.
- Names and words you type for the Lie Detector's screens, and any calibration questions you edit.
This information never leaves your devices, except that it is included in your own iPhone or Apple Watch backups (for example, iCloud Backup) like any other app's data. You can delete any photo in the trick's settings, and deleting Sleight deletes everything.
Each permission, and what it is used for
Sleight asks for a permission only when a trick needs it. You can turn any of them off at any time in the iPhone or Apple Watch Settings app. A trick that loses a permission keeps working in a simpler way where it can.
Camera (iPhone)
Out of the Screen uses the camera when you photograph your coin, a playing card or an object for the trick. The photo is processed on your iPhone and kept as described above.
The Lie Detector can read a spectator's pulse through a fingertip resting on the back camera, lit by the flash. The app analyses the colour of each video frame in memory to find the heartbeat. Those frames are never saved, shown to anyone else or sent anywhere, and the camera is on only while the Lie Detector is open and the app is on screen.
Photos (iPhone)
When you choose a screenshot for Out of the Screen, you pick it with Apple's photo picker. Sleight receives only the one image you pick, not access to your photo library.
Microphone (iPhone and Apple Watch)
While someone holds the "speak" button in the Lie Detector, the app measures how loud their voice is, to draw a moving voice meter. Measuring loudness requires a short scratch recording; it is made at the lowest quality, never played back or analysed for words, and deleted the moment they let go. Nothing anyone says is kept.
Motion and compass (iPhone and Apple Watch)
Some tricks read the motion sensors of your iPhone or Apple Watch while they run, for example to move an object on screen as the phone tilts. Telekinesis uses the iPhone's compass to find north; it does not use your location. Motion and compass readings are used only while a trick is running and are never stored.
Health: heart rate (Apple Watch)
In the Lie Detector's "Their wrist" mode, your Apple Watch, worn by a spectator, shows their live heart rate. To do this, Sleight asks for permission to read heart rate and runs a short workout session on the watch, which is how watchOS provides a live heart rate. watchOS asks for permission to write workouts because a workout session requires it, but Sleight discards the session when the trick ends: nothing is ever saved to the Health app. The heart rate is shown on the watch only. It is not sent to your iPhone, to us or to anyone else, and it is never used for advertising or any other purpose.
Apple Watch connection
Your iPhone and your Apple Watch talk to each other through Apple's WatchConnectivity system, directly between your own paired devices. They exchange only the small messages a trick needs in the moment, such as a setting or what to show on screen. None of it passes through any server of ours.
AirPods and headphones
Some tricks can use AirPods or other headphones. While those tricks are open, the app may play silent audio so it can respond to your AirPods, which pauses any music you were playing. Nothing is recorded through your AirPods.
In-app purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple Account, payment details or purchase history. The app checks which tricks you own on the device, using Apple's StoreKit.
Spectators
Many tricks are performed with other people: they touch cards, draw, speak or rest a fingertip on the camera. Everything above applies to them in the same way. Their pulse, voice level, drawings and choices are used live for the trick and are not kept. Please perform the Lie Detector only with people who are happy to take part, and remind them it is a magic trick.
Entertainment only
Sleight is for entertainment. Its heart-rate and "lie detection" readings are part of a magic trick. They are not medical, diagnostic or scientific measurements and should not be relied on for any health or other decision.
Children
Sleight is suitable for a general audience and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). Because nothing is collected, there is nothing we could share or sell.
Your choices and rights
Because we do not collect or hold any data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. You stay in control on your device:
- Turn permissions on or off in Settings › Privacy & Security on iPhone, or in the Health app for heart rate.
- Delete photos in Out of the Screen's settings, or delete the app to delete all of its data from your devices.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes how it handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If a change would ever mean collecting data, we will say so in the app before it happens.
